Well this summer has been a roller coaster ride for our family - with free admission! LOL
These boxes and totes are my quilting treasures ready to move back into our house. We will be spending at least another year in our present location. To make the best of things, I'm getting a bigger sewing space!
My husband suggested that I take over some of our son's play area in the basement. This is the natural division line I created with bookcases. Lots of his toys had been moved into totes over the summer to make cleaning up for open houses easier. I think we'll keep more put away than out for awhile and see how it goes.
Here you can see it's bigger than the front entrance way I used to create in - and much larger than the space in the laundry room! Natural light is pretty much non-existent though. I will have to get some more lighting, but for right now I'm happy with my bigger space!
My sis just moved and has her new space looking spiffy already. She has stuff up on the walls even - go check it out!

Guess we are both sewing in the basement this year and sharing the space with our kids. I didn't have the nerve to show the messy kid side though. :)

Although these aren't the plans you had thought would turn out - I think you have made lemonade!! Must be a good feeling to have something settled and a wonderful feeling to be able to spread out more. I can almost feel those creative juices flowing - you have room to make a cartwheel or 2!! I see room for a great design wall. I'll bet your son won't mind and will enjoy you being in his area!! Looks like a win/win!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat a challenge it can be to have things up in the air! Is your husband in the military? We've had tons of craziness with orders to move and then not move, now move here - no, here - no, here - no, wait until next year. . . can be nuts!! lol Must be nice to breathe a bit for now. And hey - it might be a lot of fun to have someone playing nearby sometimes while you're sewing. :)
