Canadian Star for April's Threads of Memory

I couldn't think of a better way to spend my first day after finishing teachers college than quilting.
Could you!

Yes! I wrote my last exam on Tuesday. Hard to believe {somedays!} that those 8 months are over.

I was thrilled to see that April's Threads of Memory block is called Canada Star!

Of course I wanted to make this block in red and white to symbolize Canada's colours on our flag, but I did manage to use up some more Christmas specific scraps as well. I also finally cut into the frosted white dots from Holly Holderman that I found in a thrift shop. Happy all around here!

What can I say except that I think tonight I'm going to make another block - a bear paw! I want to make this one in red white and green! I think it will join my Christmas orphan blocks collection:)

I had a really silly, strange idea today - which means it just might turn into a quilt! I was making the Threads of Memory blocks to go with my Christmas orphan blocks - which I'll take a picture of and post when I go home next week. Today I noticed I really like these star blocks on point. That made me think of the saying

 "oh my stars and garters" 

which as a quilter, brought these two blocks to mind -
Star blocks and fan blocks set on point as snakes!

There's also a snake trails quilt in the Emilie Richards quilt book I won a few years ago. It's always in the back of my mind {apparently!}
