Mini Retreat!

I wasn't kidding! I did keep quilting AND quilting on Wednesday night.
{almost felt better than dark chocolate and a massage. almost!}

During the day I made the April Threads of Memory block that I posted on Wednesday.

After supper Wednesday night I got right back into my Christmas scraps and made the April Aurifil bear paw block. I really love the fun bold green plaid. And the paisley Mary Engelbreit Christmas fabric!

I knew I really wanted to make this block but tried to talk myself out of it. Then I realized that I just need to DO IT sometimes! So I did!

This, of course, made me commit to finishing a block that I had kitted up 8 months ago when I started teachers college.

Yes, 8 months ago.

One of the blocks from Halloween 1904 by Blackbird Designs

I have been working on this block in spurts this month. I appliqued the pumpkin, vine and stem with my machine. The half-square triangles were already made. I sewed them together then attached them to the main pumpkin block. The border I sewed together and added (it's straight in real life - I cropped the picture!) There is a black star missing from the pumpkin that I'll add when I get home.

This quilt is high on my UFO list to get done! I love this quilt and every single fabric that I picked out. I had actually started to collect cream, black and orange fabrics for my stash for almost a year before I discovered this pattern. I knew I had the perfect fit for both and I'm still in love every time I work on this quilt. But I really want to enjoy the completed quilt! Like have it made to hang in a classroom next year? Maybe! Maybe if I actually WORK on it!!

note to self:
Don't wait for your JOY! Make time to create!
