Vacation Time Blocks for August Done on Time!

It's almost here! The end of summer. The weather is weird outside my house today. It looks overcast but feels - weird. Like it can't decide what it wants to do {kinda like how I feel today!}

This month for the Vacation Time block of the month that Pat Sloan is hosting {free through FreeQuiltPatterns.Info}, Pat gave us a border to do. Lots of half square triangles to make and then join together to make four borders.

I started them early as a leader and ender project - doing one or two as I sewed pieces for other blocks together. Last week I realized that this project needed to BECOME a project or it wasn't going to get done this month!

We've been repainting our decks and adirondack chairs this month too. This photo shows one chair which is almost done {there's some underneath parts that will just have to get painted to because I can see them when I walk by from the road} and the first border of Taffy blocks sewn together.

The second chair still needs its second coat, but all the Taffy block borders are done!!
{and I felt good knowing that finally washing the kitchen floor was worth it - hehe}

These are the rest of my Vacation Time blocks laid out according to Pat's plan. I might change them around a bit before I sew it together as there's too much green in that top left corner!! Plus I changed up the colour placement in one of the bottom blocks and now they really look alike:)

One more large block to go which is supposed to go in the top right corner. Then Pat's layout shows little fillers to go in between and a border to go around the outside.

For now the blocks and borders all fit neatly into this scrapbook paper plastic box that we picked up for 25 cents at a stash sale last year - it was full of colourful paper too!

It doesn't click perfectly to close it up but it does fit perfectly in my shelving unit. In between all the shelves of dream boards and dream board making supplies {which are old magazines I pick up at the library for 10 cents each!}

I'm working on lots of things right now. My next pattern will be a placemat pattern using these fallish Florence fabrics from Denyse Schmidt; the background fabric is from Pat Sloan's Sweet Life line.
