We were given the ‘recipe’ and a canning jar at our first guild meeting. The idea was to go home and decide on your ingredients – what fabrics you wanted to include for someone else to use to make a project for you. Size requirements were included and the option of the receiving chef/quilter to add one fabric to the mix – like broth!

It took me a long time to decide what I wanted to put in my jar. Once I thought about a rainbow I couldn’t let go of the idea, so rainbow soup for me! I thought of it as ‘unicorn soup’ (but not soup MADE of unicorns, rather a soup unicorns would eat;) )

Then we took our full jars back to the next quilt meeting; we wrote our names on tape on the underside of the lid so no one would know who’s jar they got until they opened it later. The jars were put in a large bag and we actually picked by taking one not by looking at the fabrics!

The jar I picked definitely has intentional fabrics inside! I think the quilter included the ‘broth’ too so I will try hard not to add anything else to this mix. We have a couple of months to complete the project. Needless to say I have a few ideas already. I’ll report back on this project in February. . .
